Give Back: When Transformation Becomes Purpose

Life Beyond Despair

At Portland Rescue Mission, transformation doesn’t end at graduation. The Give Back pillar of the PRM Transformation Model reflects a powerful truth: healed lives naturally become sources of hope for others.

Through transitional housing, spiritual mentorship, service internships, and job-readiness support, PRM equips graduates to step confidently into stable, purpose-filled lives. In 2025, 38 graduates participated in service internships. Additionally, mothers and children thrived in PRM’s Community Houses, where faith, accountability, and encouragement continue beyond recovery.

Sharing Your Light

Cassie’s journey is a testament to this ripple effect. After graduating from PRM’s New Life Recovery Program, she and her two children moved into a Community House where she is now surrounded by mentors and friends cheering her on. Today, Cassie works two part-time jobs, attends college, and is pursuing her dream of helping others recover.

Cassie Post Interview 13

“As I sit with someone struggling, I remember how someone once sat with me. That’s how change keeps going.” – Cassie

Give Back (link)  is where transformation becomes multiplication. It is where former participants become leaders, mentors, parents, and neighbors who extend the same Christ-centered care they once received.

At PRM, hope doesn’t stop. It’s passed on.

Warmly,

Janet Fraser
