Stories of Hope and Humanity, Streaming for 24 Hours

What if one bench could transform the way our community sees homelessness? That question sparked Conversations on a Bench, a 24-hour livestream event to shift the narrative around homelessness during World Homeless Day. On October 9 at noon, our interim CEO, Erin Holcomb, will be broadcasting live from a bench outside of our Burnside Shelter for a 24-hour livestream event.

Hosted by Citygate Network, this one-of-a-kind event is expected to be featured on more than 200 national and local news outlets, with an anticipated 3 to 5 million viewers tuning in on October 9 and 10 through the combined efforts of many ministries like ours across North America.

And we need your support! Here’s how you can get involved:

1. Pray – We are hopeful this event will shift the narrative around homelessness in our city and spread the love of Christ! Would you join us in praying for the event?
2. Share – Spread the word about this event with your friends, family, and church family. Our hope is that the bench will serve as a platform to discuss our shared relationships, solutions, and hope, rather than fear or politics.
3. Send in Your Questions – We know you have questions you’d like to hear answered on the bench! We want to hear them. Please send them to erinholcomb@pdxmission.org.
4. Tune in – Starting at noon on October 9th and running through noon on October 10th, tune in for the live stream on PRM’s YouTube channel (@pdxmission) and Facebook page (@pdxmission).
