Clean clothing can be hard to come by for a homeless man or woman. The loss of dignity hurts, but the lack of clothing also makes it that much harder to get a job.
One of the gifts we are able to give to the men and women who join New Life Ministries or Connect (part of our Pathway Ministries) is new clothing to wear. Once they are part of one of these ministries of Portland Rescue Mission, not only are they able to start the process of recovery and/or transition to stable housing and employment, but they are able to leave everything behind, including old and beat up clothing. Their clothing is provided exclusively by the compassionate clothing donations of people like you.
We currently have need for clothing for women in our Connect program. Much of the clothes that come in tend to be on the smaller side, and while all of our clothes are very much appreciated and well-used, the larger sizes are in short supply.
Deanne Gillock, our Women’s Connect Manager at our Burnside Shelter, says they could use an influx of shirts and jeans that range in size from extra large to 3X. If you have clothes you would want to donate within that range, you can drop those off during normal business hours either downtown at our Burnside Shelter (111 W. Burnside, Portland, Oregon 97209). Mark them “Connect,” and we’ll make sure to get those to the right place.
Thank you all for your generous donations to Portland Rescue Mission. With your help, both financially and in-kind, we will continue to be able to help hurting men, women and children who have been affected by homelessness and addiction.
