Burnside Shelter

Through The Storm

SnowForE-News

The storm hit hard and fast earlier this week, dumping about a foot of snow over most of the Portland metropolitan area. Thanks to an accurate weather forecast, we were able to prepare our facilities several days in advance in order to serve as many people as possible. We opened a warming center for people to get off the streets during the day, and also added additional severe weather beds that brought our nightly total to 174.

During the snowstorm (Thursday through Sunday), we were able to:

ShovelSnow

Getting through the storm was a total team effort. Special thanks to all our volunteers, donors, residents, and supporters who stepped up to take care of people in need! Volunteers traversed through the snow to serve, and our Link guys stepped up to serve the guests who came in out of the cold – preparing food, shoveling snow, and making everyone feel welcome!

Thank you for your support that allows us to be a beacon of hope to people when life gets tough.
