Stories of Hope

Glimmers in the Dark: Meet James

“One event compounded onto another. Before I knew it, I was out of job, homeless, and numbing my pain with alcohol. I was isolated.”

Isolation is a major barrier to overcoming homelessness and addiction because it cuts people off from essential support networks and resources. Without connections, individuals lack the encouragement, accountability, and guidance crucial for lasting change. Furthermore, isolation can deepen feelings of despair and make it harder to access help, making recovery an even more challenging and lonely journey.

During this time of year when the dark and dreary days of winter dig deeper into our bones, think about those who are isolated and full of despair. What would you do to dig out of that feeling? Meet James and his story of overcoming the odds. His story is now one of hope. Not isolation. Watch James share his story below.
