Sandi Patty, the most awarded female artist in Contemporary Christian Music, was coming through town. Traveling for her Forever Grateful Farewell Tour, she stopped in Portland to lead worship for her beloved fans one last time.
Mission Bar-B-Que* staff had the honor of catering for her band and crew. Little did we know that she’d become one of OUR biggest fans…
One of the band members brought a plate of Mission Bar-B-Que to Sandi and her husband to enjoy on their tour bus.
Barbara Service, Kitchen Coordinator for Portland Rescue Mission, said the entire time that the crew and the band members were eating Mission Bar-B-Que, they kept saying through mouthfuls:
“Out of this world!”
“All of a sudden Sandi and her husband are running in here, ‘What is this we hear about all this really great Mission Bar-B-Que? And you’ve got burnt ends! We had to see it to believe it,’” said Barb.
Sandi came up to the women serving barbecue and gave Barb a big hug.
Barb said, “’What an honor to meet you and I’m so thankful that you are here.’”
Sandi and her husband, Don, sat down and ate more barbecue. “You just keep hearing ‘Mmmm. Yum.’”
“They couldn’t believe how good the food was,” said Barb. “It was just so fun.”
Sandi took pictures with Barb and the women from Shepherd’s Door working on the Mission Bar-B-Que team.
No better way to leave town than with a plate of Mission Bar-B-Que brisket!
