How does Portland Rescue Mission help children and families?

Shepherd’s Door, a ministry of Portland Rescue Mission, provides a vital solution to the dramatic rise in homelessness among women and children.

Inside our safe, welcoming environment, up to 37 women and their children heal from the devastating effects of homelessness, addiction and abuse. As moms attend classes and counseling throughout the day, their kids are well taken care of in our state-certified Children’s Center.

After 12 to 18 months, women graduate from our New Life Recovery Ministry well prepared for permanent housing and job placement — with an over 80% success rate.
