100 Coats — Just In Time

A generous donation from Alsco, American Industrial last week provides 100 coats and sleeping bags for hurting people in need of warmth. The donation comes just in time as cold, rainy weather begins in Portland.

“We know there are many hurting people in Portland right now,” says, Bill Edwards, Service Manager at Alsco, “We’re donating these sleeping bags and jackets in hopes of keeping our fellow citizens a little warmer this winter.”

“Life on the streets is difficult already, the near-freezing temperatures each night will take a heavy toll on the health of homeless men and women,” says Eric Bauer, executive director of Portland Rescue Mission. “Generous donatations from companies like Alsco, American Industrial provide for the basic needs of our guests each day.”

In addition to emergency services like sleeping bags and jackets, Portland Rescue Mission provides free hot breakfast and dinners each day, plus shelter and 24/7 restroom facilities. Portland Rescue Mission also offers a 12- to 18-month “total life” recovery program that includes addiction counseling, life skills training, emotional healing and spiritual renewal.
