This weekend, Portland Rescue Mission has the incredible opportunity to run Hood to Coast, the world’s largest relay race. But for our team, Sober and Thriving, it’s more than a race. It’s a celebration of recovery, resilience, and hope.
Our runners, including Chad and Israel, know firsthand the pain of homelessness and addiction. At their lowest points, they found their way to Portland Rescue Mission, where they received not only shelter but also a second chance at life. Today, they are running strong (physically, emotionally, and spiritually), showing the world that recovery is possible.
Local news stations highlighted their inspiring journey, reminding our community that Portland Rescue Mission is here to help men and women shed addiction and start anew. As one news station shared, “One Hood-to-Coast team this weekend is made up of men and women in recovery, and with a mission: to give hope.”
That mission fuels everything we do. Through Hood to Coast, our Sober and Thriving team is raising $50,000 to support men, women, and children who are experiencing homelessness and battling addiction. Every mile run is a step toward healing.
You can be part of this journey. By supporting the Sober and Thriving team, you’re helping provide meals, safe shelter, recovery programs, and the hope of new life to people in our city who desperately need it.
