Famous Footwear stores across the Portland Metro area have been urging their customers the last several months to donate socks for homeless men and women in Portland. Knowing that fall and winter would arrive soon, they started early to ensure that they’d have a big stockpile for the massive need this season.
Well, autumn is here…and what a stockpile they’ve gathered! Last Friday, a team of employees from Famous Footwear arrived at our Burnside Shelter with bags and bags of new socks.
More than 6,000 total pairs.
After the team unloaded all the socks, they headed to the dining room and helped serve lunch to the men in our Link Ministry.
We’re so thankful for Famous Footwear taking the initiative to do a sock drive and helping us provide this much-needed item to hurting, homeless men and women this season. They have faithfully done a sock drive several years running – and plan to keep doing so!
Famous Footwear is just one example of the thousands of people who faithfully help us serve homeless men, women and children in Portland every year. We cannot say thank you enough to all of you.
