Braving the Cold: How We Stayed Open and Served Our Neighbors

Last week, our city was hit with extreme cold, bringing life-threatening conditions for those experiencing homelessness. When the temperature drops, a warm place to stay can mean the difference between life and death. That’s why we made it a priority to keep our doors open throughout the extent of the cold weather, ensuring that no one seeking shelter and support was turned away.

But we didn’t just wait for people to come to us—we went to them. Through our outreach vehicles, we met people where they were, delivering warm clothing, blankets, hot meals, and essential supplies to those who couldn’t or wouldn’t make it to a shelter. For many, that direct contact made all the difference in getting them to safety.

KGW recently published an article highlighting the impact of the freezing temperatures on our community. We encourage you to check it out here: Click Here.

Of course, none of this would be possible without our faithful donors. Your generosity ensures that we have the resources, staff, and supplies to respond immediately when emergencies like this arise. Whether you’ve given financially, donated warm clothing, or simply shared our mission with others, you are part of the reason we were able to keep people safe during this dangerous cold spell.

Thank you for standing with us in this important work.
