New gardens at Shepherd’s Door, our women and children’s recovery center, have been constructed just in time for spring planting. The 12 new beds will be used to teach gardening skills and provide fresh produce for the women and children in the New Life Recovery ministry who are healing from the effects of homelessness, addiction and abuse.
The project, spearheaded by the vision and passion of volunteer Ron Glanville, was no small undertaking. A wide variety of volunteers helped clear trees, level the ground, lay gravel, install water lines, and build the garden boxes.
The finished project was dedicated this week, celebrating the beauty and life it adds to the Shepherd’s Door outdoor environment.
