There’s Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday… and Giving Tuesday! For Portland Rescue Mission, #GivingTuesday provides a dedicated opportunity to rally community support and raise critical funds for Shepherd’s Door, our New Life Ministry for women and women with children. Our #GivingTuesday goal is to fund NEW avenues to pursue and find MORE women to bring life-transformation in 2025.
Women enter our program with a sense of hopelessness and worthlessness. It is an almost universal feeling. Our New Life Program provides a supportive and relational environment in long-term residential recovery for those who are experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, or struggling with addiction.
At Shepherd’s Door, women receive holistic care from Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors and support from our dedicated nursing staff to overcome substance use disorders, spiritual transformation, and life skills development. When women graduate from the program, they leave knowing that they are loved, they are worthy, and they’ve been healed.
As a testament to this impact, 89% of our New Life Program female graduates remain addictions-free and in stable housing five years later.
