Burnside Blanket Drive

Tis the season of joy and generosity! As the days grow colder, the need for warm clothing and blankets grows at our Burnside shelter. Thanks to champions of the Mission like Oak Hills Presbyterian Church, we are able to continue offering blankets, coats and socks to men and women in need of extra warmth.

Our friends at Oak Hills collected 156 pounds of blankets, coats, socks, and scarves and brought them by this past weekend.

“A couple of our students asked if we could do something to help those in need,” shared Kevin, who works with the youth group. “One of them suggested a blanket drive.”

The youth group inspired and activated their entire congregation to get involved. “It helped build community inter-generationally in our congregation,” said Kevin. “Many of our seniors were the primary givers of items, with our youth collecting in-between worship services.”

A HUGE THANK YOU to Oak Hills Presbyterian and to all of our Partner Churches and Businesses conducting drives for us this winter. Thank you for keeping our guests warm. We couldn’t do this without you.
